Take Care of Yourself
You may not realize it, but your emotional wellness can influence how you view your students and the issues they face. Studies show that the patience and tolerance that teachers are able to provide for their students decreases as their own distress levels rise. Apparently that old airplane adage is true– when the emergency oxygen masks drop, put yours on first, before you attempt to help others with theirs. In other words, you’re not able to be much help to someone else if you’re not looking after yourself.
